Richard Madubunyi is an accomplished, adaptable and results driven Chief Financial Officer with extensive experience optimizing global finance and treasury teams, operations, structure, investments and strategic alliances to deliver improved efficiencies and tangible financial results. He is a trusted advisor and diplomatic leader with demonstrable passion, integrity and influence to support global business development, change and growth strategies through collaborative partnerships at Executive level. Backed by exceptional financial and commercial astuteness Richard adds value and bottom line profit to any forward thinking organization.
Currently Richard is the Chief Financial Officer of Magellan E&P Holdings Inc. – a privately owned independent oil and gas operator focused on oil and gas projects in the onshore and offshore Gulf coast shelf – where he provides strong financial and strategic leadership to the finance and accounting operations. Having successfully driven improvements to reporting and data, and spearheaded efficiencies to increase value and profit, he has proved to be adept at supporting Management with financial modeling projects and investment appraisals of potential acquisitions in the oil and gas fields. In honor of his outstanding performance, Richard was nominated by the Houston Business Journal for the Best CFO award in the United States in 2013.
Since 2003 Richard has served as a Director of the Mabon Group – an indigenous Nigerian Petroleum Service Company providing high quality data to companies involved in the Nigerian oil sector – using his excellent analytical abilities to evaluate proposed business projects in Oil & Gas fields around the world, Energy, Finance, and Property investments, making recommendations for viable opportunities. He also takes part in negotiations for numerous energy contracts securing lucrative deals of up to $240m and conducting business in over 20 countries on different projects.
Previous positions have included Financial Analyst roles for Programming and Capital Expenditure with BSkyB, and a trainee Financial Analyst role for Goldman Sachs International, both in London.
Richard, a Chartered Management Accountant from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, is well educated with a Masters degree in Finance from Imperial College Tanaka Business School in London, a Chemical Engineering Masters from Imperial College of Science and Technology, London, and a Chemical Engineering honors degree from Leeds University.
In his spare time Richard is an adventurous, keen world traveler, who has traveled to over 100 cities/countries in all continents. Also as captain of football, rugby and basketball teams that won tournaments, as well as being college head prefect. He has also raised significant funds as a volunteer by helping to organize a charity marathon event for more than 600 people.
